Rico, a 17-year-old student at Hillcrest High, is known for his love of football and the
determination he brings to the game. When I asked what first drew him to the sport, he said, “I
got into football because I grew up watching it and loved the players and teams.” That passion
hasn’t changed, even after a herniated disc in his back kept him off the field. Reflecting on that
time, Rico admitted, “I have a lot of catching up to do.” Instead of letting the setback define him,
he used it as motivation. As he put it, “I just want to get stronger.” Through his words and
actions, it’s clear Rico is resilient, hardworking, and someone people can count on both on and
off the field.
