MIDVALE, Utah — Atticus Bradley, a senior at Hillcrest High School, was elected the Student Body Officer (SBO) Senior Class Vice President after a successful campaign in the 2024–2025 school year that involved various tactics to ensure recognition by the student body. The position, however, has not been what Bradley expected.
According to Bradley, it has exceeded his expectations. When asked about his experience as an SBO, Bradley stated that, “Honestly, I thought it would be more boring — it’s a really good time, a lot of fun.”
As an SBO, Bradley has various duties around the school. Being the Senior Vice President, his main job is to aid the seniors in the student body, which is comprised of multiple smaller tasks, such as making posters.
These jobs, however, can conflict with Bradley’s schoolwork. Bradley, who is a member of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, said that, “It’s just another thing to spend time on… it’s very fulfilling, very fun, but low-key, it takes up more of my time.”
Bradley decided to run for the position after the school advertised it. This ended up resonating with him. Bradley said that, “Anything they advertise, anything the school tells me to do, I do… just try my hardest,” when asked about his motivations for running for SBO.
Fortunately, this has turned out well for Bradley. On top of being different from what he expected, it has also been very enjoyable.
“It’s a lot of fun, it’s a great responsibility, a great opportunity to serve my school and my community,” said Bradley.
Outside of class, Bradley is also a member of other activities around the school — namely, he participates in the Research Club.
When asked about what clubs he participated in, he immediately revealed his admiration of the club, saying that, “I rushed to join Research Club — it’s quite possibly the greatest club at the school, it’ll teach you so much… if I had to rate it out of 10, 15, at the minimum.”
Bradley is also invested in being there for the school. When asked what he considered his best attribute is, Bradley responded by saying that he considers himself to be caring.
When discussing this attribute, which he called “the depth of his heart,” Bradley said that, “I care about everyone, I try to be empathetic to everyone I come across.”
To close off the interview, Bradley had some advice for the freshmen at Hillcrest High. His advice was to “avoid the first floor bathrooms.”
Bradley is excited to aid the student body this year at Hillcrest High.
