When Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution recap movie came out in 2025, a lot of people had mixed feelings about it. As someone who’s been watching anime for a long time, that didn’t really surprise me because recap movies usually get judged pretty hard. The movie goes over the Shibuya Incident and gives small hints about Season 3 instead of telling a brand-new story, so most fans were trying to decide if it was actually worth seeing in theaters.
One thing I personally really liked about the movie was how intense everything felt on the big screen. The animation, sound effects, and fight scenes were really good—they hit way harder in theaters than at home. I’ve seen other fans say the animation and fight scenes were the best part, and I agree because they made the story feel more exciting even though we already knew what was going to happen. For me, just seeing it all on the big screen made it really fun.
At the same time, I understand why some fans weren’t impressed. If you already watched the Shibuya Incident arc, the movie doesn’t give a lot of new information. Some people felt like it was mostly just stuff added on, which made buying a ticket feel like it wasn’t really worth it. I get that, especially if you were hoping for more brand-new scenes.
I also noticed that the pacing was pretty fast. Some scenes went by super quickly, and the movie focused more on reminding people what already happened instead of slowing down and adding new details. Honestly, I didn’t mind it too much because it helped refresh my memory and got me more excited for Season 3.
Overall, I think Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution is mainly for fans who wanted to relive the Shibuya Incident in a bigger, more dramatic way. It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you like awesome animation, action-packed fights, and a recap before the next season, then it does its job. Honestly, I had a lot of fun watching it, and I’d probably go see it again just for the fights.
