MIDVALE, Utah — The Hillcrest wrestling team is stepping onto the mat on November 10 with some wrestlers returning as state champs. With the mix of returning wrestlers and the surge of new talents, the Huskies are ready to gear up for this season and make a legacy.
Last year, the team dominated and showed a lot of grit coming into the season, with the outcome being five individuals who became state champions. When the stakes got high, these wrestlers showed what they could become.
While interviewing Moroni Mahe, he said, “I placed first in state last year at 215.” His expectations were high, and he came in confident — and it paid off.
Determined to repeat history and bring in more medals, the team is doubling down in the offseason with great nutrition and open mats every week on Mondays and Tuesdays, trying to sharpen their skills to come out on top.
Moroni Mahe said, “Great nutrition is very important because it will help you perform at your highest level and not wear out fast,” especially in wrestling, where you have to meet a certain amount to wrestle.
While all these wrestlers are coming in and working on strengthening themselves, they are also working on making themselves mentally stronger for each match, where they are gonna give all they can to perform at a high stage on the mat.
