Elko, NV – The Hillcrest Boys Basketball Team is heading to Nevada to play in a tournament at Elko High School. With a not-so-great start to their season, it will be an opportunity for a reset to get their season back on track.
The Hillcrest Boys Basketball team has prepared with many practices both in the off-season and during the season. They had a break over Thanksgiving and are now heading to Nevada to play in a tournament to set a new tone for their season.
Charles Skinner emphasized how much film study has shaped their approach, saying, “We have been watching a ton of film and studying and getting a game plan ready for these teams.” He mentioned that the team’s commitment is to put in the hours needed to turn their season around.
They are entering this tournament with new mindsets to rebuild their confidence and set a tone for the rest of the season, bringing momentum moving forward.
During an interview, Jacob Gallman emphasized that the team “needs to come in with a winning mindset and we will just play better.” He believes whatever the players believe and do in practice will translate into the real game.
The team is trying to ignite the spark they had last year, with fresh varsity talent and some returning varsity players, as they figure out a way to transform their skills into one cohesive team.
“Most of us played together since seventh grade,” Skinner explained, underscoring the team’s belief that familiarity can help fuel their success if they learn how to combine their play styles.
This chemistry will help their mindset reflect the broader goal of getting back into the groove they had last year.
